Tiramisu Plant-Based Ice Cream

This Week At Frozen Fruit Co…Tiramisu

Hello Lovely People…

Welcome to this week’s newsletter. This week at Frozen Fruit Co: (1) We buy a new fridge for the front of the store; (2) the weekend special is TIRAMISU; and(3) Passion Fruit makes a come back for the weekend.

Saturday 26 March is National Spinach Day; and

Sunday 20 March is National Joe Day (in case you are wondering, National Joe Day encourages everyone to enjoy a cup of joe with all your friends named Joe, Jo, Joey, Joseph, and Josephine. While you’re at it, don’t forget Joette, Jody, Johanna, Jodie, or any other variant of the name Joe).

There you go. This weekend go release your inner Popeye and eat some spinach and then go share a coffee with someone you know called “Joe” or a variant thereof.

Motivate Me…please

Motivation – it’s not a one-time-only type of thing. It is like brushing your teeth – you need to do it every day (preferably twice, daily). So, here is some motivation to get you going into the weekend:    “IF YOU FEEL DOWN YESTERDAY, STAND UP TODAY”

FUN FACTS – WATER FOUNTAINS

fountain during nighttime
Everything you wanted to know about … WATER FOUNTAINS. Yes, Water Fountains – those things that throw water into the air and we throw coins into. We also have one outside the store so this random facts section is particularly apt.

Before we get to the good stuff (aka Ice Cream) here are this week’s Fun Facts. The part of the newsletter that has nothing to do with Frozen Fruit Co or Ice Cream and everything to do with something random you can use to fill an awkward silence 😐. So, sit back and enjoy all the pointless information that is about to enter your mind.

1. What is the TALLEST Fountain in the world? The Dubai Fountain is the tallest in the world. It shoots water nearly 500 ft into the air.

2. Who came up with the idea of a Water Fountain: You can thank the Romans for water fountains. The idea dates back to 2000 BC, but it wasn’t until the Romans came along and pressurized fountains to make them what they are today.

3. What’s the most famous Fountain in the world? The Trevi Fountain in Rome is the most famous fountain in the world. Completed in 1762 after 30 years by Nicola Salvi first began work on it. According to legend, tossing one coin into the Trevi Fountain means you’ll return to The Eternal City (Rome), tossing two coins means you’ll return and fall in love, and tossing three coins means you’ll return, find love, and marry.

4. Most Profitable Fountain? The Trevi Fountain is also one of the most profitable fountains out there. How? Well, it is estimated that daily around $3000 is left in the fountain. That adds up to $1.3 million a year – making it the most profitable fountain in the world.

Let’s do this. Riddle is at the bottom of the email if that is all you have come for. It’s okay. We forgive you. At least you got these fun facts.

WEEKEND SPECIAL – TIRAMISU

close up shot of a sliced cake
This weekend’s special flavor is… TIRAMISU.

Ah, Tiramisu. Good things come to those who wait. We literally thought we would never be able to do this flavor. It took about two months of back and forth on the recipe until we finally got it right.   So, now not only is Tiramisu a type of Italian coffee cake, but it is also plant-based ice cream.

Made from swirls of chocolate, vanilla, (decaf) coffee ice cream with chunks of coffee-soaked (again decaf) gluten-free tiramisu bites, and chocolate swirls.   It is our chef-d’œuvre and will be available from the Santa Monica Store this weekend as a special.

1. Where will this flavor be available: This special will be available this weekend at the Santa Monica Store and will also be available from Ubereats, Doordash, Grubhub, and Postmates while stocks last.

2. What is it made out of: Tiramisu is made from our chocolate ice cream (coconut milk, cocoa, and date), vanilla ice cream (coconut cream, vanilla, and date), coffee ice cream (coconut cream, decaf coffee, and date), gluten-free almond and maple based Sweet Laurel Cookies (soaked in decaf coffee), and swirls of our chocolate magic shell (coconut oil, cocoa, date, and sunflower lecithin).

*IT CONTAINS ALMONDS.

OTHER THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW…

Next week will see the arrival (finally…we hope…definitely maybe…) of the new Salted Chocolate Almond Sea Salt – this will be our salted chocolate ice cream with clusters of dark chocolate sea salted almonds. We are also thinking of trying out a Mango Passion Fruit Flavor.

Don’t forget our special flavor days as well:

Wow, you read this far. You are amazing. Think about all those fun facts you can share with people now. Here is your riddle:

A doctor and a bus driver are both in love with the same woman, an attractive girl named Sarah. The bus driver had to go on a long bus trip that would last a week. Before he left, he gave Sarah seven apples. Why?

Answer to last week’s riddle:  A flash of light on a grey day. If you’re made of metal, you best stay away. What am I? ANSWER: Lightning.

FUN FACTS – JET LAG

underneath of airplane

Everything you wanted to know about … JET LAG. Yes, Jetlag – that thing you get from flying that completely messes up your sleep.

1. What is Jetlag? Jet lag, also called jet lag disorder, is a temporary sleep problem that can affect anyone who quickly travels across multiple time zones.

Your body has its own internal clock (circadian rhythms) that signals your body when to stay awake and when to sleep. Jet lag occurs because your body’s clock is still synced to your original time zone, instead of to the time zone where you’ve traveled to. The more time zones crossed, the more likely you are to experience jet lag.

2. Where did the name Jet Lag come from? Jet Lag derives from the simple fact that jets travel so fast they leave your body rhythms behind.

3. How Long Does Jet Lag Last? Jet lag lasts anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. In general, symptoms persist for 1-1.5 days per time zone crossed, but the duration of symptoms varies depending on the person and their trip details.

4. What was Jet Lag called before planes? Desynchronosis, circadian dysrhythmia – now you know. Think how much better you will sound when you say I am suffering from Desynchronosis, circadian dysrhythmia.

5. Top Three Tips to Avoid Jet Lag – Drink lots of water, adapt to your new time zone’s schedule as quickly as possible, and manage your sleep. Also apparently, just going and doing some exercise as soon as you land is the magic ingredient – at least according to Tim Ferris. Let’s do this. Riddle is at the bottom of the email if that is all you have come for. It’s okay. We forgive you. At least you got these fun facts.

Scaffoling

Hey.

Hey.

Hello lovely people and welcome to this week’s newsletter. This week we: (1) hide the store behind scaffolding for 3 weeks 😐; (2) we give you the answer to the World’s hardest riddle; and (3) we share the latest in dating technology.

Welcome to the third week of August lovely people.

But, before all of that here is a fun fact: did you know that in Switzerland it is illegal to own one guinea pig. Yep, that’s right. Anyone who wants to own a guinea pig in Switzerland has to have at least two guinea pigs. The reason – guinea pigs are social animals.

Scaffolding, Scaffolding, Scaffolding

Scaffoling
We’ve been scaffold-ed! Yep, there is no other way to put it. Our little Santa Monica store will be hidden behind an array of scaffolding for the next three weeks due to construction at our building 😐😐😐.

BUT, fear not. The Santa Monica store on Montana Ave will remain open as normal (1 pm to 10 pm) daily for take out and online orders. And also fear not you don’t actually have to walk under the scaffolding to get into the store – phew!

Dating App for Dog Lovers

Dogs. We all love them, but wouldn’t it be great if there was dating app that connected dog lovers. Yep, you read that right. Searching the internet we came across Dig – the dog person’s dating aim.

Dig aims to match you with someone who will love your pet as much as you do or better yet allow you to find someone you can get a dog with in the future. Best of all you and your dog both get a profile!
Awww, we thought this was a nice feel good story for the newsletter. If you go on to use the app, let us know.

Banana Pumpkin Spice

NEW FALL SPECIAL – Banana Pumpkin Spice

Yes, that is right. You have been waiting patiently for a year, but it is finally here. Banana Pumpkin Spice is BACK! Made from Bananas, Coconut Milk, Date and just a little bit of Pumpkin Spice – it’s the perfect Fall flavor – in a scoop.
This is our third year of launching our limited edition banana pumpkin spice flavor and this year we have decided to mess with our tried and tested special by kicking up that “spice” level (yep, we messed with something that already worked). We wanted to give a more intense “spice” flavor so let us know what you think.
Tasting Profile
The Banana Pumpkin Spice hits your taste buds with a strong note of banana, this then slowly develops into the sweetness of dates and then finishes on an end note of “spice”. The more you eat the more the “spice” grows and grows.
This flavor is for all of your pumpkin fans. Those of you who for 9 months of the year ask us “when is banana pumpkin spice going to be back?”. For those of us who wait nine months of the year to live for those three months of Fall. For the rest of you – we still have Salted Chocolate on the menu.
Find Banana Pumpkin Spice only in our Montana Ave store until Thanks Giving.
Big Love
P.S. Let us know what you think of the new flavor in the comments section.
